Senate launches its ‘Giving Back’ campaign of support.

The Senate Group, a Liverpool based mechanical and electrical company has launched its own ‘Giving Back’ campaign aimed at helping the city’s charitable organisations, social enterprises and food banks flourish through Christmas and into the New Year.

They have already donated £3,000 to Thrive, a dedicated space for support workers and care-experienced young people to meet, situated in the heart of the city.

Opened in October 2020, the coffee shop with a difference has already welcomed over 180 young people and support workers through their doors. The donation has already allowed Thrive to purchase a state-of-the-art coffee machine, so they can hand out free refreshments to its visitors.

Senate’s ‘We’re Giving Back’ campaign isn’t just aimed at giving monetary donations, it is also offering additional support and guidance to many of the young people in the form of mentoring.

The majority of the young people accessing Thrive’s facilities have, at some point in their life, been through the care system, so having someone there to mentor them on the skills needed to secure paid employment, is invaluable.

Kiera Vogel, Co-Owner and Director at Senate Group says: “We want to be able to ‘Give Back’ to those communities in which we work. Being able to donate money to support a fantastic cause like this is great, but for me it’s much more about the support and guidance I can offer these young people as they embark on their career path – many of them see a future in construction – something I can give them support with”.

Sara Lawton Founder of Thrive LCR comments: Employers across Liverpool City Region have been presented with a real opportunity to help young people who in reality have no family, no support network”. By supporting Thrive and with continuing on-going support Senate are helping to shape the future of the Liverpool City Region. Even if only a small percentage of employers across the region embrace Thrive in the same way, the lives of these vulnerable young people will change forever. Thank you so much to Senate for taking time to speak with us to gain an understanding the depth of the impact this project will have.”

It doesn’t end there, Senate has also pledged their support to four of the city’s food banks, at a time when it is anticipated usage will increase due to the forthcoming festive period and the ongoing effects of Covid.

£3,000 has been donated to North Liverpool food bank, South Liverpool food bank, Wirral food bank as well as a donation to the Fans Supporting initiative set up by Liverpool FC and Everton FC supports.

Kiera continues “We all know how tough Christmas can be for many, this year however is destined to be worse than ever for many people across the city, with the effects of Covid still hitting families hard. At Senate, we wanted to help and support the fantastic work these organisations do to get food to those who need it. We’ll be continuing to offer our support through 2021”.

Foodbank stat

Staggeringly the usage of food banks across the Liverpool City Region has increased by 130% since the beginning of the year, and it doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon. Senate’s ‘We’re Giving Back’ campaign is set to help other organisations and groups throughout 2021, as they pledge to help support the communities in which the company works.
