Senate completed the internal and external refurbishment of the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre. By working closely with the client we ensured the theatre could still operate during the works being carried out.
This Grade II* building has a rich history as a significant venue for repertory and producing theatre and is located in the heart of Liverpool City Centre.
The site is located within a very busy area containing a mix of retail and commercial businesses and is adjacent to the St John’s precinct. Working alongside the public, including at high level on scaffold, this project involved conservation repairs, rendering and decoration to restore this iconic building. We undertook all of the work on a “stop/start” basis to ensure smooth running of the theatre.
A second phase of work was negotiated involving replacement of the entrance doors and curtain walling whilst the theatre remained live.
Deborah Aydon Executive Director – E&PThank you all for your skill, your tenacity and your sensitivity both to the building’s heritage status and to the need to keep the Playhouse fully functioning as a vibrant and welcoming theatre throughout the worksx and thank you for making sure that we got the best results possible within the available budget.
