Thrive Careers Hub
Thrive is a careers hub in Liverpool city centre, established to help connect care-experienced young people find employers across the region.
Since it opened in late 2020, Thrive has helped hundreds of young people find their direction in life. We work with Thrive to give young care leavers the opportunity of apprenticeships in various trades including electrical, mechanical and construction-based learning.
We have also supported Thrive by donating coffee shop equipment so they can make their coffee shop a one-stop-shop for young people to drop into and enjoy.
Local Foodbanks
As part of our ‘giving something back’ initiative we have been actively supporting our local Liverpool based foodbanks for many years now. We feel it is important to support those communities in which we work to help them to thrive.
We don’t just donate money and food to the foodbanks, we also enjoy using our volunteering hours to help and support wherever possible. In the last few years, we have donated over £4,000 to local foodbanks, as well as volunteering with various projects.
The Rise Framework
The Rise Framework is the UK’s only pro-social construction framework with a proven track record of supporting deprived communities through procurement. Pro-social businesses are self-sustainable social organisations that exist to provide social benefits to the communities around them.
The framework spans 17 groupings and comprises of 100 reputable supply partners experienced in delivering capital projects for NHS Foundation Trusts, Universities, Local Authorities and Housing Associations. Senate are part of the Rise Framework and have been for several years on.
Our Net Zero 2050 Strategy
Senate is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, embedding environmental sustainability into every aspect of our operations and project delivery. Our strategy focuses on practical, measurable initiatives that deliver lasting environmental and community benefits, including:
Reducing Vehicle Mileage: Shared travel for operatives, consolidated deliveries to central stores, and supplier route optimisation to cut transport emissions.
Lifecycle Analysis: Selection of premium, durable materials through lifecycle assessment to minimise replacement, reduce waste, and provide long-term value.
Local Sustainable Procurement: Ethical sourcing policies that prioritise local suppliers, sustainable materials, and socially responsible supply chain practices.
Paperless Systems: Ongoing investment in digital tools to minimise paper usage across the business.
Responsible Waste Management: Site-specific waste management plans, licensed waste carriers, and verified disposal processes.
Recycling Hierarchy: Applying the principles of avoid, reduce, re-use, recycle, and dispose to minimise environmental impact.
Carbon Reduction Plan
To strengthen our Net Zero strategy, we are developing a robust Carbon Reduction Plan. This will establish a precise baseline of our current emissions, enabling us to set measurable annual reduction targets. We will monitor progress through regular internal reviews and transparent reporting, using project-specific data to refine our approach. This approach ensures our long-term Net Zero ambition is underpinned by short-term, evidence-based action, delivering tangible carbon reductions year on year. Our Carbon Reduction Plan will be finalised and published on our website in Q3 2025.
