The Albion Academy

Senate Group was engaged to deliver a full mechanical and electrical upgrade at Albion Academy, forming a key part of the school’s transition to a more energy-efficient and sustainable future.

This project involved the design, installation, and commissioning of new Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs), alongside all associated works required to form new ASHP compounds. This included comprehensive builder’s works and electrical infrastructure to support the installation and ensure safe, reliable operation.

In addition to the ASHP works, Senate managed the instalment of new rooftop Solar PV systems and upgraded all internal and external lighting to high-efficiency LED fittings. These measures were designed to significantly reduce the academy’s carbon footprint and ongoing energy costs, while enhancing the learning environment for staff and students.

The mechanical upgrades also included the strip-out and replacement of existing heat emitters throughout the building, upgrades to the site’s Air Handling Units (AHUs), and a full modernisation of the Building Management System (BMS) to deliver smarter, more responsive control of heating, ventilation, and energy usage across the site.

Our in-house project team oversaw every aspect of the works from concept to completion, providing tight control over quality, coordination, and safety. As with all projects in live education environments, we worked closely with school leadership to plan activities around term time and maintain a safe, low-disruption working environment.
